Environmental
Educators Plan International Conference for South Padre Island,
Texas
Thursday, July
13, 2000
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Over 1,000 environmental educators will
gather on an island off the Texas coast to discuss the growing
need for environmental literacy around the world. The conference
of the North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE),
scheduled for October, has already attracted a large number of
early registrations.
Environmental educators from around the world will gather to
discuss their teaching experiences working in classrooms, national
parks, inner cities, zoos and aquaria, and other settings. The
research presented at the conference will be analyzed and debated
as conference participants attempt to meet the demands of a
growing and mobile population on limited natural resources.
For the first time, conference registration is possible on the
Internet (www.naaee.org) along with
the content of the 32-page registration packet.
"The surge in early registration is the result of a good
conference program and early publicity," notes Barb Eager,
conference manager for NAAEE.
"And having an international conference on an island doesn't
hurt, either!"
